Monday, October 16th, Cycropians traveled to Oshkosh, Wisconsin, where they participated in a residency encompassing several performances, workshops, and presentations.
The residency was made possible by the ArtsCore Initiative: A partnership between UW Oshkosh and the Paine Art Center and Gardens whose mission is to assists teachers in all areas who want to collaborate to integrate the arts across the curriculum.
As part of Cycropia’s ArtsCore residency, the troupe performed the morning of the 16th for groups of Elementary and Middle School students, and also worked with 6th grade students to explore aerial dance, movement, and performance in relation to storytelling, science, and the visual arts.
That afternoon, ArtsCore teachers were invited to experience flight for themselves and explore ways to integrate movement arts into their curriculum.
That evening, the the residency concluded with a free outdoor performance held on the beautiful UW Oshkosh campus.
Thank you UW Oshkosh ArtsCore and Paine Art Museum – it was was an honor to share our love of aerial dance!
